Record crowd of 110,000 at Multicultural Festival

The National Multicultural Festival enjoyed its biggest attendance in one day at yesterday's Food and Dance Spectacular, with festival organisers estimating 110,000 people attending throughout the day.

ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs Joy Burch said she was delighted with the support for this year's festival, with yesterday's crowd alone surpassing the total attendance over the three days of last year's event, and the crowd was well behaved.

"I am very proud with this year's Multicultural Festival - we have packed even more into the program and Canberrans have responded by turning out in record numbers to celebrate our city's cultural diversity," Ms Burch said.

"We have another blockbuster line-up today and many of the delicious food stalls that were so popular yesterday will again be at the festival today, so I urge everyone to come today and continue the celebration."

The National Multicultural Festival continues today with 18 hours of non-stop entertainment across various stages, food and a huge community expo.
